Depending on the type of knife, this can vary greatly. For some simple knives, if not in stock, we need around 2-4 weeks. For serrated slotting knives typically we need up to 6-8 weeks. We can where necessary fast track an order to speed it through.

To supply the correct product with minimal delay, please tell us the machine make and model, knife dimensions, and material preference (e.g. M2, ASP 2053, tungsten carbide). Drawings or part references help too. Our spec sheets and measuring guide shows exactly what to measure and how.

M2 is a versatile, cost-effective tool steel suited to general slitting applications. ASP 2053 is a powder metallurgy steel with finer, more uniform carbides, giving noticeably better wear resistance and longer service life between regrinds. Tungsten carbide offers the highest durability and edge retention of the three — ideal for high-volume or abrasive work — at a higher initial cost that’s often recovered through reduced downtime. Reconditioning is usually the most cost-effective way to extend knife life. Replacement becomes necessary once a knife is below its minimum diameter tolerance, or where wear or damage would compromise cut quality. Send us your knives and we’ll assess and advise — we’ll only recommend replacement when reconditioning is no longer viable.
